Sister Act 3: Whoopi Goldberg Confirms Film Is in Development Amid Changes

Whoopi Goldberg has confirmed that Sister Act 3 is officially in development, following years of speculation and fan anticipation. The actress, who portrayed Deloris Van Cartier in the original films, shared the news during an appearance on The View, expressing her excitement about the project.

Goldberg revealed that the script for the sequel is complete and that she is eager to begin filming. However, she also acknowledged that the film will take a "different direction" compared to its predecessors. This shift comes after the passing of Dame Maggie Smith, who portrayed Mother Superior in the original films. Goldberg expressed her sadness over Smith's death and noted that adjustments are being made to the storyline to honour her legacy.

The original Sister Act was released in 1992, followed by Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit in 1993. Both films were commercial successes and have since become beloved classics. The upcoming third installment is expected to bring a fresh perspective while maintaining the heart and humour that fans have come to love.

As of now, details regarding the cast and release date have not been officially announced. Fans are hopeful that the new film will capture the magic of the original series while introducing new elements to keep the story exciting and relevant.
