L'Oréal heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers inherited her wealth from her mother, Liliane Bettencourt, who was the principal shareholder of L'Oréal, one of the world's largest cosmetics and beauty companies. She is currently the richest woman in the world and the 12th richest person in the world. At the time of her death, Liliane was the world's wealthiest woman.

Bettencourt Meyers is wedded to Jean-Pierre Meyers, who serves as the CEO of Tethys SAS. Together, they are parents to Jean-Victor Meyers, aged 37, and Nicolás Meyers, aged 35.

Known to be quite private, Bettencourt Meyers, despite being the author of commentaries on the Bible and a book about the Greek gods, maintains a discreet lifestyle.

L'Oréal, founded in 1909 by Eugène Schueller, is a global cosmetics and beauty company headquartered in Clichy, France. The company has a rich history marked by innovation, international expansion, and a commitment to beauty and scientific research.

Eugène Schueller, a young French chemist, formulated and manufactured hair dyes initially under the name "Aureale." In 1909, he registered the company as Société Française de Teintures Inoffensives pour Cheveux, which translates to the French Society of Harmless Hair Dyes. The company's name was later shortened to L'Oréal in 1939.

L'Oréal's early success was fueled by the invention of safe hair dyes, which quickly gained popularity. Over the years, the company expanded its product line to include skincare, makeup, and fragrances. L'Oréal's commitment to research and innovation became evident with the establishment of its research and innovation center, which played a pivotal role in developing groundbreaking beauty products.

In 1963, L'Oréal went public and began its global expansion. The company strategically acquired numerous brands, strengthening its presence in various markets. L'Oréal's portfolio includes well-known brands such as Lancôme, Maybelline, Garnier, Redken, and many others.
